Most people go in to a photo shoot not completely sure of what they’re looking for. Sure, they know they want nice photos of their kids, preferably looking happy and not throwing a tantrum. But rarely do they have a clear vision of what they want the final product to look like, or how they want the images to feel.
Not Maggie. She knew exactly what she wanted for Leah’s photos, and so I was flattered that she asked me (and more so that she trusted me) to capture these photographs for her.
We headed to a park that Maggie had scoped out and it was the perfect meadow setting for Leah’s nature shoot. Luckily Maggie dressed for the part too, even though she had not intended to be in the photos originally. She was worried that Leah might not take too well to getting her picture taken, and while Leah was an absolute dream the whole time it was definitely helpful to have Maggie around to play and sing to Leah (and look cute while doing it). In the end, I think having Maggie in these photographs made them stronger and more personal. The love she has for her daughter, and her daughter for her, is immense. And I got to capture that love and preserve it forever – there is no greater feeling as a photographer than that.
