A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing this brand new family of three. Quite different from their maternity session where we spent a few hours in the freezing cold, this morning was spent in the warm snuggles and comfort of home.
I loved everything about this session – Lauren & Mike were already great partners and now, they are great parents. I hope to capture many more years of their family’s love.
Their house is beautiful, but they are in the middle of renovations. My favorite part about walking through the house was immediately knowing what had Lauren’s touch and what was left from the previous owner.
Best eye contact of any baby, EVER. Oh, Miles. You are just so sweet.
When I first started photographing newborns a few years ago, I thought that it was so important to have them “perfect” in the pictures. I used to edit out the acne, and the milia on the nose (those little bumps that look like acne). And I’d even edit out the flaky skin. It wasn’t until having my own child where I realized that all of those things are the things that make them so new and delicate and precious. I love to help my clients remember these fleeting moments, flaky skin included.
At my sessions lately, I’ve been trying to take just a few shots in film at the end. This last shot was one of my film shots, and it is one of my favorites.
