Beautiful baby Macy made her way in to this world on a February day earlier this year. I had the honor of photographing her in the first few weeks of her life – adorable, snuggly and so, so lovely. Not to mention, the spitting image of her big brother JD.
I absolutely love photographing this family. Julia and Tony are two of the sweetest people I’ve ever been around. Tony was constantly asking me if I needed anything, while Julia was constantly monitoring my movement. I was 7 months pregnant at the time, so she was making sure I was okay getting in to certain positions to photograph little Macy, didn’t want me on the step stool, etc, etc. It wasn’t long before I realized that mothering (and caring) was in her bones.
The sweet, simple love she has for her family amazes me. At one point, JD didn’t want to get a photograph with Macy. Total normal little boy behavior. He was upset and didn’t want to be a part of it. Some people, myself included probably, would’ve tried to push or alternatively would’ve gotten upset that their kids weren’t cooperating. Not Julia. She just let it be. He didn’t want to. No big deal. His feelings were what was important at that moment, not a silly photograph. There would be plenty of time for that in their lifetime.
This loving nature that Tony and Julia share is already apparent in JD. Such a sensitive and sweet little guy. A mirror image of his parents. And that can only mean one thing: Macy is going to be a handful.
