Ashley + Dennis // Bensalem Country Club Wedding

It’s Murphy’s Law: bride contacts you more than a year before her wedding to book YOU. She hasn’t set a date, but wants to make sure you’re available, and thankfully you are. She spends months researching locations with an outdoor option because photographs are VERY important to her. She finally decides on a venue with tree-lined drives, gorgeous greenery, and cute little structures to mix it up. She is happy. You, photographer, are happy.

Then comes in a storm system that didn’t let up ALL day. The only wedding that I can say I’ve officially been ‘rained out’ of. There was no break, it was just unrelenting downpour. Add to that a late bus, and an hour behind our formals, and I had one very, very sad bride. But right then and there, she and I (well, and her groom Dennis of course) decided that we were going to embrace the day and take it for what it’s worth. And, well, we also decided that we were going to come back to their reception location at the Bensalem Country Club and do some more bride/groom formals on another, more sunny day.

There is a whole lot of happy below. So prepare yourselves for it.

 

 

When I took this shot I knew that I loved it, but it was hard for me to explain why until I really looked at it. The dress hanging in the doorway of her parent’s home, the sweetheart neckline mimicked by the hearts leading up the stairs, Ashley’s senior photograph hanging on the wall – a reminder of the little girl that she will always be to her mom and dad.

 

After a few detail shots, I headed down to Ashley + Dennis’ house which is very conveniently located just a few houses down from her parents. Riggins + Charley are their pups, which are basically their children, which basically means I adore them. (the dogs + the people)

OH MY GOODNESSSSS, seriously how flippin’ cute is Ashley here?! And that portrait below – HOLY HOT STUFF!

 

And this is where I try to hold myself back from falling down into a big ‘ole blubbering mess. Ashley’s dad had THE sweetest response from any dad I’ve ever seen. EVER.

 

Who did crazy better, the men or the ladies? I honestly can’t decide.

 

During the ceremony, Dennis was so choked up reading his vows and he just kept wiping away tears. Here Ashley’s dad hands him a tissue. And below, Ashley’s mom comforts Ashley’s dad who was also a mess! Oh, I just love me a sentimental man.

 

She got him good. And totally didn’t see it coming.

 

With the timeline debacle, and the promise that we were going to do more bride + groom photos on another day, Ashley + Dennis decided to wait until after the ceremony to do a few inside shots. We found some cute little lockers and a fantastic hallway. I love getting the chance to try something different.

 

 

The McCutcheons! Married! And then 4 days later, the Bensalem Country Club was nice enough to allow us to use their grounds again for some more portraits. I honestly cannot say enough WONDERFUL things about the staff there, especially the coordinator Andrew. He so attentive the entire day, both to the bridal party + guests and to us vendors. Seriously amazing guy!

The sun came out, and boy was she good to us.

 

I cannot even handle Ashley and her veil.

 

Sometimes mistakes are perfect.

 

Dennis is such a gentleman. Always concerned about Ashley tripping, grabbing her dress as they walked without my even asking.. He is absolutely smitten with her. It’s adorable to watch.

 

The symmetry, her casual stance, the way he’s looking at her. My FAVE.

 

Ashley + Dennis, I can’t say enough amazing things about the both of you. I love you both, and cannot wait to watch your love grow throughout the years. Here’s to many more years of love + happiness! xo, Lauren
